When to Add a Power Amplifier to an A/V Receiver
Of course, you can get this same effect by simply turning up the level on the sub, or raising the output level through the receiver. Only in those few instances where you cannot match the levels by turning up the output level on both the receiver and the sub would you actually need to use a Y-splitter. On a lot of subs that have L and R inputs, they are intended to use the subwoofer’s crossover when using two-channel separates. If you have the sub plugged into a typical home theater receiver, then you’ll likely let the receiver handle the bass management and bypass the subwoofer’s crossover. The Y-splitter takes the subwoofer output and splits into two line level ouputs. Splitting the subwoofer output does not change the level, it just splits it two ways. If the sub has separate L and R inputs, then it will work fine with just one of those channels plugged in. The only time you would use the Y-splitter would be if you need to increase the output, for example if you turn the level all the way up and it still does not properly match with the levels on your main speakers.
Bridged and paralleled amplifiers
Most people believe that their car’s OEM stereo has enough power for their speakers, or that their new aftermarket stereo that puts out 50 watts per channel peak is enough for a great sounding system. But, the reality is that whether it’s an OEM system with ‘ watts’ or an aftermarket unit with 50 watts per channel, most ratings don’t match the recommended ratings for an aftermarket system which can lead to poor sound or even blown speakers.
In addition, the ratings that might be shown for a head unit or amplifier may be in ‘Peak’ power, instead of ‘RMS’ power. For example, a 50 watt Peak per channel aftermarket stereo might actually only be pumping around 15 watts RMS to each of your speakers. And a monoblock amplifier that is rated for watts might only put out half of that continuously.
Not sure what you mean by AB but being that this is a monoblock or 1 channel amplifier you can only hook it up 1 way. Verify the polarity from your speaker box. + to + and – to -.

Can you hook up 2 subs to a single channel amp?
They may get hot due to the extra stress and work at. You should look for an amp that is watts at 2 ohm. I recommend wiring the sub voice coils in series this will produce 8 ohms and then when you connect your amp the subs will be running in parallel and cut that down to 4 ohms. Assuming that you mean your amp is RMS at 4 ohms then each or your subs would be receiving about watts which if you lower your gain slightly you will be fine for those subs.
I just got a Pioneer Deh mp car stereo for my car and can i connect a sub and Amp to it On the back of that Pioneer, there are one set of RCA inputs. Those are used to connect the signal from the deck to the amplifier.

Could you power a set of speakers and a sub with a two channel amp? You also must know how use capacitors on the sub to make it respond only to bass! And while they do make com…mercially available accessories that do what Y-T-Y says, by the time you buy one that works for your situation, install it, etc. Depends on the impedance of each speaker. If they are car subs and not converted home speakers, they are probably 4 Ohms each. Depending on how you wire them you get either 8 Ohms or 2 Ohms.
Many car subs nowadays will handle a 2-Ohm load, but some will not. Your two speakers will handle 2x watts or watts. An amp that is rated to drive watts into 4 ohms will either deliver more like watts into 2 Ohms, or it will melt through the floor of your car. So you need to look up the specs for your amp in the instruction manual.
What Is a Mono Amplifier?
That’s because they don’t understand each other. Yep, not only do most audiophiles not understand subwoofers very well, subwoofers generally aren’t built with the needs of audiophiles in mind. It’s a sad situation. Most audiophiles don’t use subs, so they’re missing out on great bass. Obviously, if you’re using stand-mounted speakers without a sub, you’re not getting deep bass.

Curtis answered 5 years ago Look for a capacitor for car audio systems. I would look into upgrading your alternator also. Report Ilregal answered 5 years ago You need to hook those batteries correctly or you will end up with 24 volt on a 12 volt system and that’s not good for 12 volt wiring and you will be sorry.
Jun 16, · Hey guys i have a question regarding hooking up 2 subs to a mono block amp, ill try to explain the best i can but it confueses me. Recently i hooked up a friends amp that was a mono block with 2 inputs for speaker wires (2 + and 2-) he had 2 4 ohm DVC subs.I followed the 12 volt subwoofer wiring diagram that said to hook the 2 subs up together in parallel to get a 1 ohm load.
Amplifiers that are 2 ohms stable produce more power resulting in more volume. This amp can comfortably power speakers or subwoofers with all channel s being used at a load of 2 ohms. We have developed a specific linear circuitry that further reduces distortion while increasing both sound quality and power output. High and Low Level Inputs An amplifier with both high-level and low-level inputs provides flexibility by allowing you to build an audio system using virtually any standard factory or aftermarket source unit.
High-level speaker level inputs accept the signal from the speakers, while low-level RCA inputs accept the signal from the pre-amp outputs of the source unit. Protection If the amplifier gets too hot, the thermal protection circuit turns the amp off and allows the amp to cool down before turning it back on. If a speaker fails causing an electrical short, the protection circuit will automatically cut the output and remain in that state until the short is resolved.
These safety features give you peace of mind knowing the amplifier is constantly monitoring conditions to protect itself. Subwoofer Level Control The ability to boost or attenuate the sub level when an amp and subwoofer are connected to the subwoofer pre-amp output. Switchable Input Sensitivity Switchable Input Sensitivity gives you the freedom to connect the amp to any standard source unit and have peace of mind it will be within range to properly match the output of the source unit allowing you to use the volume controls on your source unit the way it was designed.
Variable Bass Boost Variable Bass Boost allows you to adjust the low bass within the boost range to just the way you like it. Variable Gain Control Variable Gain Control lets you balance the amps output with the speakers or subs the amp is driving.

The newer amps including this one have a wired bass control module, allowing you to turn the bass level up or down without having to physically go to the amp itself and do it. The speaker level inputs allow you to connect your OEM headunit without having to buy add-on adapters or anything that does not have RCA-inputs.

Cars use thicker cable due to the high amount of current being drawn from the battery lower voltage appliances tend to draw more current then higher voltage ones, it also helps reduce voltdrop. Someone has said that CCA is what you want to look for on a car battery this is incorrect as Cold Cranking Amps are for when the car is cold and you try to start the engine its designed for a very short duration while keeping a voltage of 12V, the actual battery usage you need to look at is measure in Ah these are usually much smaller then the CCA and are the rating you can safety continuously draw from a car battery.
Note for the writer its a great article but i wouldn’t recommend soldering then crimping, solder is very soft and will become loose after a while your better off crimping stright on the copper. I have recently hooked up my Amplifier to a PCU. But I only used one black and one yellow wire of the PCU to power it. Why I don’t know Can you please tell me if I will blow it or not. After some additional research, it appears that the standard wire size for a computer power supply is 18awg. According to various sources, it seems that 16A would be the maximum for an 18awg wire. However, there is a lot of information that skews this 16A rating. Each situation has their own variables that need to be considered specifically for that application.
Personally, i have had this set up for about two years now and use it daily.
